Group's mission statement:
To promote and preserve principles, ideals, and values discovered by students via The Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program by engaging in efforts that further the Inside-Out course experience while generating continuity among Greater Philadelphia Alumni.
Inside-Out alumni in Philadelphia have the advantage of being directly connected with the National Inside-Out Center. This means that alumni activities and plans have the benefit of feedback from the Inside Think Tank at Graterford, Lori Pompa and from Inside-Out staff.
Alumni here have held several focus groups to determine interests and future plans. One idea is to work with incarcerated youth, like the Oregon group. A new possibility is to work with an education and re-entry program, running Inside-Out modeled workshops and holding dialogues to prepare those leaving prison to successfully reengage with the community, and to immediately begin attending college.
